Spring vs. Autumn Planting Seasons 🌱
Many flower bulbs and plants are sold in two main planting seasons: spring and autumn. Choosing the right season ensures healthy growth and beautiful blooms.
🌸 Autumn Planting (September – November)
Examples: Tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses, alliums
These are spring-flowering bulbs.
They need the cold period of winter in the soil to develop properly.
Planting in autumn ensures flowers bloom in spring (March–May).
Tip: Plant when soil temperature drops below 10°C.
🌞 Spring Planting (March – May)
Examples: Dahlias, gladioli, begonias, lilies
These are summer-flowering bulbs and tubers.
They cannot survive cold winter soil and must be planted after frost risk has passed.
Planting in spring ensures blooms in summer (June–September).
Tip: Plant after the last frost, when the soil starts to warm up.
